CONGRATULATIONS, COUNSELING DEPARTMENT!
Windward District's very own King Intermediate School and Kapunahala Elementary school have both earned the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation. The RAMP designation recognizes schools committed to delivering a data-informed school counseling program in accordance with The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs.
Our amazing and hard-working team will be honored during a special ceremony at the American School Counselor Association’s Annual Conference in July, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Counseling Vision Statement:
The students at Kapunahala Elementary School are high achieving learners who are high school graduates and are college and/or career ready, well prepared to meet the challenges and expectations of the 21st century. Our students are responsible citizens who are empowered to improve their community, persevere through challenges and believe in having integrity in all situations.
Counseling Mission Statement:
The mission of the counselors of Kapunahala Elementary School is to provide equitable, high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to develop and enhance personal growth in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and college/career awareness that is accessible by all students regardless of their demographic background. In partnership with teachers, administrators, parents and a caring community, the school counselors will empower all students to be passionate, lifelong learners with the ability to persevere through challenges.
Our Behavioral Health Specialist, Ms. Christine, is ready and willing to help alongside Mrs. McKeague and Mrs. Kahawaii. Here is some information about Ms. Christine and what her interests are:
Christine Tumilowicz, M.Ed., LMHC, LBA, BCBA, NCC
Graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of science degree in psychology, and Rutgers University with a master of education in counseling psychology. Although Christine is not working for HIDOE as a behavioral analyst, she often uses tools from her behavior analytic toolbox in her work as a BHS at Kapunahala.
Ms. Christine has provided counseling services for over 30 years in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric, crisis outreach in the community, universities, and HIDOE. Working with elementary students with behavioral challenges is her speciality & her passion.
Loves walking her dog Hiwahiwa, hiking, baking, getting out on the water, & family time
Her sons Kawika (age 24) & Kanoa (age 21) both went to Kapunahala!
